Dr Shireen Mathew has been on service in the medical field for more than 25 years. She comes from a family of doctors and had a keen interest in medicine even while schooling at the Wynberg Allen School, Mussorie. She has the experience of serving in the capital of India at the G B Pant Hospital as well as in rural outposts like Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh.

Shireen is well versed with the challenges and opportunities of the health care system in India. She is currently working as a Consultant in Critical Care & Cardiac Anaesthesia in Kailash Hospital & Heart Institute, Delhi-NCR. Shireen was in the eye of the storm in the Covid-19 pandemic and served hundreds of patients through the deadliest waves of the disease. An alumnus of Christian Medical College Ludhiana, Punjab, Shireen also has an MBA in Health Care.

Dr Shireen Mathew loves to travel and appreciates music and art in her spare time. She resides in Delhi NCR with her husband Dr Satish Mathew who also serves in the medical field and is a senior Cardiothoracic Surgeon.

A FAMILY’S CRY FOR HELP
DEOGARH DISTRICT, JHARKHAND – Meet Dular Murmu, a 30-year-old woman from Pandanatan village of the Deogarh district in Jharkhand, India. She belongs to the Santhal tribe, the third largest tribe in India. The occupation of the Santhals revolves around the forests in which they reside. Their basic needs are fulfilled from trees and plants of the forests. They are also engaged in hunting, fishing and cultivation for their livelihood. Dular lives with her husband and three children. Her husband works as a daily wage labourer. Her family became an outcast in the village due to caste issue and were prohibited to fetch water from the community wells. ​
