INDIA – Meet young Princika Dhurve, who beat the odds and fought bravely till help reached her. At a tender young age, while playing with her sister, Princika fell into the open flame that her family used to cook food on. She sustained severe burns on her chest and back. “It really hurt and made me cry,” she said remembering the unbearable pain she felt. Princika’s parents frantically looked for hospitals that could treat their injured toddler but couldn’t afford any of the doctor’s charges.
In desperation, Princika’s mother tried every home remedy she could think of. “She barely allowed us to touch her when we tried to clean her wounds. We worried she would die soon; she was in so much pain.” Painful scars formed on the open wounds, causing extreme pain that prevented Princika from eating or sleeping. She soon became malnourished.
THE HEALING TOUCH
One day, Princika’s parents took her to a hospital that partners with Operation Blessing India. Princika was immediately taken in and put on a good diet that would help her regain her strength. Today, her wounds have healed and her once again plays with her friends. Princika’s parents delight in her joyous laughter once again.
“I come to play in the field and it makes me very happy,” Princika added with a smile on her face!
